Dear Friends Cowl
When Liz from Kingdom Fleece and Fiber reached out to me about a delightful advent collaboration featuring luxurious fiber, my initial reaction was, “But I don’t spin!” However, Liz generously offered to spin her beautiful roving and provide me with a stunning selection of colors. I chose a combination that would look absolutely fantastic when worked in a simple brioche stitch.
If you’re new to brioche knitting, I highly recommend starting with two contrasting colors. This makes the brioche technique a bit more approachable, and I'm here to share some invaluable hints and tips to guide you through the process seamlessly.
This cowl pattern encourages you to knit one for yourself and then create another as a thoughtful gift for a friend! It’s a wonderful way to spread joy and share your love for knitting.
NOTE: The cowl can easily be knit using any number of small skeins, allowing you the creative freedom to mix and match stripes that reflect your personal color preferences. For the best results and to achieve the textured look of brioche featured in the images, I recommend using non-superwash wool or handspun fibers. The beauty of this reversible cowl is that knitters can choose which side they’d like to showcase as the public side, resulting in two unique looks in one project.
So grab your needles, select your favorite colors, and get ready to craft a stunning brioche cowl that you and your knitting buddy will adore!
