Diamonds in the Fluff
This unique sock design was created for Sock Madness 5 and features an eye-catching traveling slip stitch pattern that beautifully complements a variety of yarn types, including variegated, semi-solid, or solid yarns. The sock boasts a classic heel flap construction, paired with an innovative "riverbed" gusset and concludes with a stylish star toe, making it not only functional but also a delightful project for knitters of all skill levels.
**Note:** Be aware that the cuff on this sock tends to flare out slightly. If you prefer a more fitted cuff, consider using smaller needles to achieve the desired snugness.
Size Adjustments:
If you are working on the Medium (72 stitch) size but would like to create a narrower foot (64 stitch), you can easily adjust the pattern. Simply set aside 4 repeats of the diamond pattern instead of the 5 repeats specified for the instep. This modification will result in the heel flap having 39 stitches instead of the original 31, and it will require fewer rows compared to the Medium size. Here are the detailed adjustments you need to make:
Heel Flap: Work over the next 39 stitches. Repeat rows 1 & 2 a total of 16 times.
Heel Turn: Follow the original pattern instructions for the Large (72 stitch) size.
Foot: Follow the original instructions for the Small (64 stitch) size.
By carefully following these modifications, you can create a perfectly fitting sock that meets your desired specifications while enjoying a beautiful and intricate knitting project. Happy knitting!
