Dillon Shawl
Are you intimidated by knitting two-color brioche? Let’s take the first step together with the Dillon Shawl! This beautiful shawl incorporates the innovative two-color garter technique—an ideal stepping stone to mastering two-color brioche. Choose two high-contrast colors to create stunning combinations that will catch everyone’s eye!
The Dillon Shawl is inspired by Dillon Beach, where I spent countless summers camping and enjoying the sun. The vibrant colors you select will evoke the essence of summer days spent by the ocean, creating a shawl that is not only a warm accessory but also a fond memory. I can’t wait to see the unique color combinations you come up with—let your creativity shine!
For your Dillon Shawl, you'll need approximately 1,000 yards (914 meters) of fingering weight yarn. To bring your shawl to life, grab a set of US size 5 (3.75mm) needles, preferably a 32” (80 cm) needle or longer to accommodate the stitch count. Don’t forget to have a tapestry needle on hand for weaving in those ends and finishing touches!
Your gauge should measure 22 stitches by 20 garter bumps over 4 inches (10 cm) in garter stitch, so make sure to adjust your needle size as needed to achieve the correct gauge. This will ensure your shawl drapes beautifully and fits just right!
The final size of your Dillon Shawl will be a generous 96” wide by 18” deep (244 cm wide by 46 cm deep), but feel free to customize the size to suit your preferences. Whether you want a bigger wrap for chilly evenings or a more compact version, the choice is yours!
