This beautifully designed triangular shawl, featuring charming small butterfly motifs, is knitted from the top down, making it an enjoyable project for knitters of various skill levels. This lovely accessory adds a unique touch to any outfit, providing warmth and elegance.

Finished Size:

  • Available in 3 sizes: Small, Medium, and Large.
  • Dimensions: Small measures 50” (127 cm) wide x 22” (56 cm) tall, Medium measures 61 ¾” (157 cm) wide x 27 ¼” (69 cm) tall, and Large measures 73 ½” (186.5 cm) wide x 32 ½” (82.5 cm) tall.
  • This pattern also includes instructions on how to modify the shawl to achieve in-between sizes, allowing for a personalized fit.

Gauge:

  • Gauge is 16 stitches x 34 rows = 4” x 4” / 10 cm x 10 cm in stockinette stitch after blocking.
  • This gauge is based on using the sample yarn and applying semi-aggressive blocking techniques.
  • The sample yarn is made of 100% linen, which maintains its shape better than wool yarn and has less stretch.
  • While gauge is not critical when knitting shawls, it is important to note if you desire exact measurements for your finished piece.
  • If you cannot achieve the listed gauge, consider blocking your swatch and adjusting your needle size for better results.

Construction:

  • The shawl is elegantly knitted from the top edge down, allowing the beautiful butterfly motifs to unfold as you progress.
  • For increased size, you will increase 4 stitches on every right-side (RS) row, creating a delicate and airy feel.
  • Lace and twisted stitches are worked exclusively on Right Side rows, while the Wrong Side rows consist of simple purl stitches, making for an achievable knitting experience.

The sample was crafted using Quince & Co. Sparrow yarn; however, a suitable substitute yarn is recommended below. Enjoy the satisfaction of creating a stunning shawl that will enhance your wardrobe while showcasing your knitting skills!
