Welcome to Yay For Yarn! This is a Large Print, Ad-Free, Printable PDF version of our easy baby blanket pattern, available for free with ads on our blog. Thank you for your support!

This delightful and easy baby blanket is knit in the beautiful and squishy Brioche stitch, which is known for its soft, luxurious texture that mimics the feel of fresh Brioche bread. This pattern provides a fantastic opportunity for both beginner and experienced knitters alike to master the Brioche stitch while enjoying an adorable project for little ones. With my unique shortcut method for working the Brioche stitch, you’ll find that if you can knit garter stitch and follow a simple "knit 1, purl 1" ribbing, you are more than capable of crafting this charming blanket!

Supplies Needed:

  • Approximately 1220 yards of #4 Worsted Weight Baby Yarn (I used Lion Brand Pound of Love) OR 610 yards of #5 Bulky Weight Yarn for a quicker project.
  • US Size 10 Circular Knitting Needle, at least 32“ long to accommodate your stitches comfortably.

Gauge: 6 Brioche stitches = 2 inches, 7 Brioche rows = 2 inches. Remember, achieving the correct gauge is essential for a beautifully sized blanket!

Important Note: If you choose to use #4 Worsted Weight Yarn, make sure to double the yarn by holding two strands together as one. If opting for #5 Bulky Weight Yarn, you will only need to use one strand normally. This allows for flexibility and the ability to customize your blanket according to your yarn stash!

Get ready to create a lovely, soft, and cozy baby blanket that will surely be a cherished gift for new parents and their little ones. Enjoy the process of learning and knitting with delightful yarn, and experience the joy of giving a handmade treasure!
