Elaines Scottish Run

Introducing the chic and cozy Elaine's Scottish Run Beret, expertly designed for running enthusiasts! This stylish red beret was crafted especially for my dear friend Elaine, who specifically requested a vibrant red accessory. Our shared adventure of a double parkrun over the New Year inspired this design, and although we were not in Scotland, a friend of Elaine’s mistakenly believed we were, leading to the affectionate nickname 'Elaine’s Scottish Run' for our trip.

This delightful beret features a classic tam style with a provisional cast-on and a beautifully textured double brim ribbed section. After the ribbing, the stitch count increases for the main body, creating a flattering fit, before elegantly swirling down into decreases at the crown for that perfect finish.

You can knit this pattern using your choice of yarn, with options including the luxurious Stylecraft Special DK (100% acrylic) in the rich Burgundy 1035, or the exquisite Sublime Baby Cashmere Merino Silk DK (75% Merino, 20% silk, 5% cashmere) for a softer touch.
