Elderwood Walk
Introducing a stunning tam-style hat that I designed after an inspiring autumn stroll through the enchanting woods near my home. The ancient trees in this serene setting interweave in captivating patterns, which greatly influenced the design of this unique piece.
The hat features a beautifully crafted tam style, beginning with a cozy ribbed section that transitions into a gently rounded main body. Throughout the design, the sections of stocking stitch gradually taper before ending with charming decreases at the crown. This shaping mirrors the natural silhouette of the trees, making it not just a warm accessory, but a wearable piece of art inspired by nature.
This delightful hat is knitted in the round and is available in three sizes for the brim, catering to knitters of all skill levels. The pattern includes both meticulously detailed written instructions and clear charted guidance, ensuring a seamless knitting experience.
The hat is crafted from the luxurious Stylecraft Bellissima yarn, composed of 100% acrylic, in the vibrant colourway Rio Red 3932. Known for its stunning shades and softness, this yarn elevates the hat's aesthetic and comfort. In addition, I am proud to share that this design was recently awarded Runner Up in the Stylecraft/Knit Now magazine design competition, reflecting its creative excellence and popularity within the knitting community.
I extend my heartfelt thanks to my talented tech editor, Tabitha Thomas Studio, and my dedicated test knitters, who played a crucial role in refining this pattern and making it accessible to fellow knitting enthusiasts. Dive into this project and bring a touch of the autumn woods to your wardrobe with this exquisite tam-style hat pattern!
