If you loved the Octopus Slippers and found yourself thinking, “What if I could have adorable octopuses on my head?” then you’re in luck! Introducing the Enter Octopus knitting pattern, perfect for adding a whimsical touch to your wardrobe. This unique design features two charming octopuses swirling around the body of the hat, creatively converging in a delightful tentacular crown. Crafted using stranded colourwork techniques with fingering weight yarn, this pattern is both fun and engaging for knitters of all skill levels.

Designed with versatility in mind, the Enter Octopus pattern includes detailed instructions for three distinct sizes. Each size comes with a slightly different color chart, allowing you to achieve the perfect fit. Plus, you have the option to further customize the sizing by adjusting your gauge. To make your knitting experience even smoother, the charts clearly indicate the number of stitches for long segments of one color, eliminating the hassle of constant counting. This thoughtful design helps you stay focused on creating your beautiful octopus hat.

Yarn Requirements: This pattern uses Small Bird Workshop Shropshire Fingering yarn, made from 100% Canadian Shropshire wool (500 yds/457 m per 3.9 oz/110 g). For the main color (MC), you will need just 1 skein (as shown in Evensong), and for the contrast color (CC), you will also need 1 skein (as shown in Pinot Gris). Alternatively, you can use approximately 115 (140, 160) yds/ 105 (130, 150) m of MC and 90 (110, 130) yds/80 (105, 115) m of CC, giving you the flexibility to choose colors that best suit your style.

Gauge: To achieve the correct sizing and pattern detail, aim for a gauge of 29 stitches and 40 rows per 4 in/10 cm when working in stranded colourwork using larger needles, making sure to work in the round and block your finished hat for the best fit.

Create your own playful Enter Octopus hat and make a statement wherever you go! Whether it’s for gifting or personal use, this pattern is a delightful addition to every knitter's collection. Happy knitting!
