EReader Cabled Cozy

$2.08

When I first got my Nook, I realized that it absolutely needed a protective and stylish cover. After exploring various options on the market, I found none that perfectly matched my vision. Ultimately, I decided to take matters into my own hands and knit a custom cover for it.

This knitting pattern is versatile and perfectly fits a variety of new mini tablets that are currently popular, including the iPad Mini, Nook HD and HD+, Kindle Fire, Kindle Fire HD, Samsung Galaxy Tab, and Google Nexus 7. Whether you own a tablet for reading, browsing, or streaming, this cozy cover will provide both style and protection.

The pattern begins with a flap, worked flat, and then transitions into the body of the cozy, which is worked in the round. While the pattern specifies the use of double-pointed needles—my preferred method for working in the round—you can absolutely adapt it to use circular needles with ease. This flexibility makes it accessible to knitters of all skill levels!

Throughout the design, you'll employ several techniques that enhance your knitting repertoire, such as a crochet cast-on, intricate cabling, and crochet edging (including both single crochet and reverse single crochet). You'll also learn the 3-needle bind-off and how to create a chic I-cord. Increases are achieved by knitting into the front and back of each stitch, providing a seamless and polished finish.

The cable pattern is thoughtfully presented in chart form, making it easier for you to follow along and visualize your progress. Having some familiarity with cabling techniques will be beneficial, but even if you're a beginner, this project will challenge and delight you as it comes to life.

So grab your yarn and needles, and let’s create a unique and cozy cover for your favorite mini tablet that reflects your personal style while keeping it safe!
