Erline - knitting pattern

Erline

$6.47

Erline is an exquisite reversible cowl pattern that showcases layers of leafy lace, adding a delightful flare and flair to your knitting collection. This stunning design draws inspiration from one of my earliest creations, Semele, and features a lacy edging that many knitters recognize. For a more intuitive crafting experience, I’ve reconfigured the charts in Erline to focus on logical progression rather than merely mimicking the finished lace pattern visually. Additionally, I have incorporated minor tweaks, including transforming a single purl column into a knit stitch to enhance the overall look. The lace edging itself is a sight to behold; it’s affectionately referred to as Great Grandmother’s Edging by Barbara Walker, though it may go by other names as well.

Construction: Erline is knitted sideways in one continuous piece featuring side-by-side sections in both the main color (MC) and the contrasting color (CC). The knitting process begins with two cast-ons: a longtail cast-on provides a flexible edge, while the Winding Provisional Cast On offers a seamless continuation. Once completed, the finished cowl can be elegantly closed using either a 3-needle bind-off or by grafting the edges, making it a wonderfully versatile project for knitters of all skill levels.

PDF Availability: This comprehensive pattern is available as a PDF, which includes detailed photo tutorials, charts, and row-by-row written instructions for easy following.

Languages: The pattern is offered in English (pages 1–12) and German/Deutsch (pages 13–25), ensuring that knitters from different backgrounds can enjoy the art of crafting the beautiful Erline cowl.

Whether you're an experienced knitter or new to the craft, this pattern presents an enchanting opportunity to create a timeless piece that will elevate your style and keep you warm. Embrace your creativity and embark on your knitting journey with Erline today!
