Estonian Princess Baby Blanket
Introducing a stunning Estonian-inspired blanket that showcases a traditional stitch pattern, perfect for knitting enthusiasts looking to expand their skills. This beautiful blanket features a unique decorative lace edging that, while not originating from Estonia, simplifies the project by allowing you to knit it alongside the main portion of the blanket. The project incorporates essential knitting skills such as yarn overs (YO), knit two together (k2tog), slip, slip, knit (SSK), and the creation of nupps. A helpful tutorial on crafting nupps is included to guide you through the process.
The pattern comes with both charted and written instructions, making it accessible for various learning styles. With a difficulty level of intermediate, this lovely blanket measures 36” x 40” upon completion, making it an ideal size for a cozy lap blanket or a stylish throw for your living space.
Although gauge is not crucial for this project, using larger needles and thicker yarn will result in a larger finished blanket. This flexibility allows you to customize the size to suit your preferences and needs.
Important Updates:
March 27, 2014: The pattern has been updated to correct an error on row 9 of the Estonian Lace Pattern. The instructions now indicate to "repeat from * to 7 sts before marker" instead of 8 sts, ensuring clarity in your knitting process.
August 13, 2015: Another update has been made to address a previous error. After completing 10 repetitions of the Estonian Lace Pattern, you are instructed to work rows 1-24. “At this point, you will have completed 19 repetitions of the Right/Left Side Edging”, not 16, allowing for accurate finishing of your blanket.
