Etta's Shawl

$2.00

Discover the heartwarming charm of Etta’s Shawl, a beautifully designed oversized triangle shawl inspired by the very first shawl I ever cherished—a simple yet textured piece passed down from my beloved mom. It holds a special place in my heart, and during a recent nostalgia-fueled moment, I stumbled upon a small tag in the corner that revealed my great-grandmother’s name. This unexpected discovery unveiled a family legacy of knitting that I was unaware of, reigniting my passion for fiber arts and prompting me to create this unique design in her honor.

Etta’s Shawl is not only a tribute to familial love and craftsmanship, but it is also a quick and easy project suitable for knitters of all skill levels. With an approachable and easy-to-memorize repeat pattern, you can effortlessly knit this shawl in a single color for a classic look or mix and match multiple hues to showcase your personal style. Each version can reflect your individuality and creativity, making it as unique and beautiful as the memories it represents.

Yarn: For this cozy project, we recommend using The Hook Nook, Yummy Yarn, a delightful blend of 80% Acrylic and 20% Wool. Each ball offers 185 yards (170 m) and weighs 3.5 oz (100g). To complete your Etta's Shawl, you’ll need a total of 4 balls of yarn.

Needle/Hook: You will need a US11/8mm circular needle with a minimum length of 32" (80cm). If you prefer to crochet, an L/8mm crochet hook will work perfectly for this pattern.

Notions: Make sure to gather a few handy notions, including stitch markers and a tapestry needle, to help with your crafting process.

Skills Required: The skills needed for this lovely shawl include basic knitting techniques such as increasing and decreasing stitches. Additionally, you may optionally use the Garter Tab Cast On method if you wish. This project offers a gentle introduction to these essential skills while allowing for creative expression.

Embrace your knitting journey with Etta’s Shawl—a project that not only warms your body but also your heart. Create a stunning accessory that tells your story, honors your heritage, and adds a touch of traditional craftsmanship to your wardrobe.
