If you're anything like me, you have a collection of stunning mini-skeins (like Hedgehog Fibres sock minis) that you've been saving for “someday,” along with extra sock weight yarn stashed away “just in case.” This delightful stash-busting pattern is your perfect opportunity to utilize those lovely yarns while creating something spectacular to wear!

In this knitting project, you will be holding two strands of sock yarn together throughout the entire process. To add interest and variety, you'll switch one of the yarns out every seven rows. Don’t worry if your leftover yarn amounts are slightly over or under what’s called for – there’s no need to stress! You can still achieve a beautiful effect by changing colors a half row to one row earlier or later. Hint: For an eye-catching fade effect, choose 6 colors in fingering weight yarn. I find that the best way to create a smooth gradient is by selecting two contrasting outer colors and then choosing the intermediate colors that beautifully transition and blend from the first to the sixth color.
