Everlasting

$6.00

I fell in love with the delicate beauty of Pearly Everlasting flowers during our first family trip to Nova Scotia so many years ago. Their tiny, creamy blossoms and straw-like texture inspired me to create this unique knitting pattern. The tranquil colors and understated frilliness of this shawl evoke the gentle charm of those lovely flowers, making it a delightful project for any knitting enthusiast.

This shawl is knit from the top down in a smooth stockinette stitch, featuring carefully crafted lifted increases that create a beautiful cape-like shape. The scalloped edges are shaped using short rows combined with a touch of simple lace, adding an elegant finish. The under layer is then picked up from behind and knit in both stockinette and lace, allowing for a stunning contrast and texture that will surely turn heads.

While this pattern offers a visually appealing result, it does incorporate a couple of techniques that may pose a challenge for beginners. These include lifted increases, a long row featuring multiple short rows, and the technique of picking up stitches from the purl bumps on the wrong side. To support your knitting journey, I’ve included helpful video links and step-by-step how-to photos to guide you through these techniques.
