Falling Water Shawl
This exquisite top-down triangle shawl is designed in an elegant art deco style, inspired by the iconic architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright’s remarkable house, Fallingwater. Crafted from a luxurious shimmery wool/silk blend, this shawl features a body of smooth stockinette, beautifully accented by the intricate “Fountain" lace stitch and a delicate short lace border. The pattern allows for easy size adjustments, enabling knitters to customize the shawl's dimensions by altering the yarn weight and needle size or by varying the length of the stockinette section (detailed instructions can be found in the Pattern Notes).
To cater to various knitting preferences, both charted and written instructions are provided. This ensures that regardless of whether you prefer visual charts or step-by-step written guidance, you can effortlessly follow along and create your stunning shawl.
Note (3/17/11): If you choose to use stitch markers for the lace section, please remember to move one marker to the right after each repeat to maintain the correct stitch count.
The medium-sized (copper) sample was expertly knit using Saffron Dyeworks Mica DK in the lovely color Cocoa Berry, requiring approximately 1.5 skeins. The large-sized (blue-green) sample was made in Squoosh Silky DK, showcasing the stunning color Cape Blanco, and utilized precisely 2 skeins (note: this sample came very close to using the entire 2 skeins).
