Note: If you find that one armhole is bigger than the other while working on this stunning one-piece, seamless, top-down shrug/poncho, you have two effective options to address the issue. The first option is to use needle and thread to carefully sew up the difference for a polished finish. The second option allows for more flexibility: you can choose not to join the 5 provisional cast-on stitches just yet. Instead, simply join the triangle section and continue knitting in the round. Once this section is finished and bound off, measure the edge of the triangle, and pick up the center stitches to seamlessly connect with the 5 provisional stitches.

This versatile shrug/poncho is suitable for all occasions and features a first section that is a gorgeous stockinette triangle knitted flat, allowing you to try it on before proceeding to the next section. The second section is expertly knitted in the round to enhance comfort and fit. This pattern includes instructions for a variety of sizes, accommodating body measurements of 30" - 32", 34" - 36", 38" - 40", and 42" - 44". You can experiment with any yarn and color of your choice to create a unique piece that complements your wardrobe.

For accurate sizing, my stockinette gauge measures 2" = 9 stitches x 12.5 rows. Here are the approximate measurements when lying flat:

  • 30" - 32": 38" x 18"
  • 34" - 36": 42" x 20", armhole measures 12"
  • 38" - 40": 46" x 22"
  • 42" - 44": 50" x 24"
