Ferry in the Harbor

$6.00

My studio boasts a breathtaking view of the New York Harbor, providing endless inspiration as I work on new knitting designs. As I immerse myself in the creative process, I love to watch the ferries, cruise ships, cargo vessels, and sailboats gliding across the water. The vibrant activity on the waterways mirrors the hustle and bustle of New York City itself, creating a dynamic setting that fuels my imagination. This fascinating environment led me to design the 'Ferry in the Harbor' hat, a tribute to the dedicated individuals who navigate these waters through all seasons.

With winter winds often biting and chilly, having a warm hat is absolutely essential for those who work on the water. The 'Ferry in the Harbor' hat is crafted to meet the needs of sailors, combining functionality with style. Utilizing stranded colorwork technique, this hat provides an extra layer of warmth that effectively blocks out harsh winds. The color palette I chose reflects the moody grey of the harbor on a cold, wintry day, paired with the striking bright orange of the Staten Island Ferry, which makes its frequent journeys through the busy waterways.

This unique design is made using Tyrrell DK by Martin’s Lab, showcased in the stunning colorways 'Autumn in Poland' for the main color (MC) and 'Tabby' for the contrasting color (CC). These color combinations not only enhance the aesthetic appeal but also evoke the essence of the New York Harbor's vibrant atmosphere.
