Field hare beanie
Introducing our delightful commuter trip-inspired beanie, perfect for those chilly rides home! This unique beanie design is inspired by a serene evening bus ride through the charming "garlic country" (Knoblauchsland) around Nuremberg. This spectacular region is known for its rich soil, making it an ideal place for growing a variety of vegetables both in greenhouses and open fields. As you travel through this agricultural haven, keep your eyes open for the occasional field hare and roe deer that can be spotted amidst the lush landscape.
One evening, I was captivated by the sight of two field hares lounging peacefully in a vibrant salad field. Their adorable antics stayed with me long after the trip, inspiring me to create this whimsical beanie that reflects that enchanting moment. The beanie features a beautiful corrugated (multicolor) ribbing design adorned with bands of fresh salad, playful nibbles at salad and carrots, and the charming portrayal of the two field hares resting in the field. At the crown, you’ll find a delightful gathering of seven field hares and seven tiny carrots, adding an extra layer of fun to this cozy accessory.
This beanie is designed for ease of knitting, crafted from 4-ply sock yarn leftovers. However, feel free to substitute with acrylic or merino yarn of similar weight to achieve a different texture or look. For those who prefer a looser fit or have larger head sizes, simply go up one or two needle sizes and/or opt for 5-ply yarn, or even both, to ensure a comfortable fit.
Whether you’re a seasoned knitter or a beginner looking for a unique project, this whimsical beanie captures the essence of rural charm and playful wildlife. Don't miss out on the opportunity to knit your own piece of garlic country magic!
