Firebolt

In the captivating design of the Firebolt shawl, the intricate holes and triangles can be interpreted in countless ways. For me, they evoke images ranging from the bristles of magical broomsticks to spectacular astronomical phenomena. What do these enchanting shapes inspire in your imagination?

Firebolt is a beautifully crafted crescent-shaped shawl featuring a stunning geometric lace pattern and a delicately ruffled edge. One of the remarkable aspects of this pattern is its versatility; you can make the shawl in any size that best suits your personal preference and style.

The vibrant green-orange shawl utilized 1 skein of Madelinetosh Tosh Merino Light in the gorgeous shade Maple Leaf, composed of 100% merino wool, offering an impressive 420 yards (384 meters) per 100 grams. This particular shawl was knitted using 4 mm (US 6) needles, resulting in a blocked size of 110 x 30 cm (43 x 12 inches). The gauge achieved was 18 stitches per 10 cm in stockinette stitch.

For the striking blue shawl, also knit with 1 skein, I chose Malabrigo Sock in the delightful Indiecita hue. This yarn is 100% Merino wool with a generous yardage of 440 yards (402 meters) per 100 grams. Utilizing the same 4 mm (US 6) needles, this shawl blocked to a size of 126 x 33 cm (50 x 13 inches), with a gauge of 16 stitches per 10 cm in stockinette stitch.

As of March 12th, 2013, I have added an updated version of the pattern that now includes written instructions for your convenience! Explore your creativity and indulge in the soothing world of knitting with the Firebolt shawl pattern. Whether you opt for a vibrant, eye-catching color or a more subdued hue, this shawl is sure to become a cherished accessory in your wardrobe.
