First Shawl
6/25/10 I am excited to announce that I am reworking this beautiful shawl into a shawlette, so please bear with me during this transition.
I originally designed this shawl for Pieheart. She sought a shawl to introduce a group of enthusiastic knitters to their very first lace project. Coincidentally, I also needed a shawl for my dear cousin, Carol, which allowed me to create something for both purposes.
I've named this lovely piece "First Shawl" for three significant reasons: It serves as a wonderful first project for someone who has never knit a shawl, a suitable first lace project for beginners, and a delightful introduction for those eager to incorporate beads into their knitting.
I am truly pleased with how this project turned out. I utilized a sock weight yarn that I adore, called Jojoland Melody, paired with a fairly large needle—size 8. To add charm and texture, I incorporated size 6 beads, totaling approximately 500 beads, which amounts to about 30 grams.
If you’re interested in using this pattern for a beginner lace class or a beaded knitting workshop, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I would love to support your knitting journey!
