Flamingo Hats

As a passionate zoo volunteer, I find joy in knitting imaginative hats featuring our magnificent animals. This adult-sized knitting pattern includes two delightful designs: Flamingo Parade and Facing Flamingos. The Flamingo Parade hat showcases five charming flamingos encircling the entire hat, while the Facing Flamingos design features two adorable lovebirds facing each other, creating a captivating focal point on both the front and back of the hat.

For my samples, I used Red Heart Super Saver® yarn, although you can easily substitute it with any worsted weight yarn of your choice. To create your flamingo hats, you will need one or two background colors, along with small amounts of two pink shades, white, black, and tan to bring each flamingo to life. The finished hat circumference is approximately 20 inches, making it a perfect fit for women with head sizes ranging from 22 to 23 inches.

IMPORTANT: This pattern requires knowledge of the duplicate stitch technique to expertly embroider the flamingos. Duplicate stitch adds a rich depth and texture to the design which I adore, making it an excellent choice for this pattern. Please note that Fair Isle and Intarsia methods will not work in this case, as the charts include essential half stitches.
