Forest Ferns Shawl
In 2022, I embarked on a knitting adventure and purchased a beautifully crafted winter solstice kit from Cosy Posy Yarns. This delightful kit included a luxurious 100-gram skein of their renowned 'Soft & Cosy' yarn, complemented by 20 vibrant mini-skeins, each weighing 20 grams. Fueled by creativity and passion, I decided to challenge myself by designing a stunning shawl that utilizes this unique yarn, knitting the colors in the exact order curated by the dyer.
This versatile shawl pattern is perfect for knitting enthusiasts looking to make the most of their yarn collections. It is specifically designed to accommodate both solstice kits (which feature 20 mini-skeins) and advent kits (boasting 24 mini-skeins). Each delightful stripe in this design requires 72 (86) yards or 66 (79) meters of yarn, making it an excellent option for stash busting and incorporating leftover yarn into a beautiful final product.
Yarn Requirements: You will need a total of 1,840 (2,574) yards or 1,682 (2,353) meters of a fingering weight yarn that knits up to 7-7.5 sts/inch. The shawl design is both engaging and rewarding!
Main Colour: You’ll need approximately 400 (500) yards or 366 (457) meters of the main color to set the base for your project.
Contrasting Colours: For the contrasting colors, you will require a substantial amount—around 1,440 (2,074) yards or 1,317 (1,896) meters—enabling you to enjoy a beautiful array of colors. Each stripe in the shawl will use 72 (86) yards or 66 (79) meters of these contrasting hues.
