Four sisters socks
Introducing Yvonne, an exquisite cuff-down lace sock design that continues my exploration of thicker yarn and captivating lace pattern combinations. This unique design features a single, stunning lace panel, as opposed to an all-over lace pattern, making it simple to create and write up the pattern in multiple sizes. The socks are inspired by a delicate lace pattern of Spanish origin, which stands out as the most prominent design feature, alongside the beautiful Jeny’s Surprisingly Stretchy Bind-Off that ensures a perfect fit.
The knitting journey begins with Judy’s Magic Cast-On, utilizing the Magic Loop method for seamless knitting in the round. However, if you prefer traditional techniques, you can easily adapt this pattern to work on double-pointed needles (DPNs) by dividing the stitches over three or four needles, based on your comfort level. This flexibility allows knitters of all skill levels to enjoy creating these intricate lace socks. Whether you’re a seasoned knitter or just starting your knitting adventure, the Yvonne socks provide a lovely project to hone your skills while creating a beautifully handcrafted piece.
Gauge: To achieve the perfect fit, aim for 28 stitches and 40 rounds over Stocking stitch, which equals 10 cm / 4” of fabric. Additionally, the 15-stitch lace panel measures 6.25 cm / 2.5” wide when slightly stretched. The gauge swatch for this pattern was worked on size 3 mm / US 2.5 needles while in the round. Be sure to check your gauge for optimal results and a perfectly fitting sock!
Embrace the joy of knitting with these elegant Yvonne socks, perfect for gifting or personal wear, and experience the charm of intricate lacework combined with functional design. Happy knitting!
