Foxy Stripes Cowl - knitting pattern

Foxy Stripes Cowl

$6.15

In Fall 2019, I had the incredible opportunity to take a class with the talented Bristol Ivy on "Knitting Outside the Box" that truly transformed my creative approach to knitting! During our sessions, Bristol guided us through various innovative exercises designed to spark our imagination, and one particular exercise involved the playful use of Mad Libs. Each participant received three unique words, which we then incorporated into an exciting knitting concept.

I was thrilled with my assigned words: ‘stripes,’ ‘cowl,’ and ‘goofy’. The design that emerged from these prompts was a delightful and whimsical cowl. I want to extend a special thanks to Bristol for inspiring this fun project!

Important Note: Although Blue Sky Fibers Woolstok Worsted yarn is categorized as a DK weight, it behaves more like a worsted weight yarn when knitted. For my sample, I utilized nearly all of the three skeins of Woolstok. If you choose to use Woolstok for your cowl, it may be wise to purchase an additional skein to ensure you have enough yarn.

Skills Required: This cowl pattern requires a few essential knitting techniques, including:* Working with cables * Executing increases and decreases * Navigating charts or written instructions * Proper blocking techniques to finish your piece beautifully.

Yarn Information: To complete this project, you will need approximately 410 yards (375 meters) of merino wool worsted weight yarn that typically knits up to a gauge of 7-7.5 stitches per inch.

Sample Yarn Used: This cowl is shown using Blue Sky Fibers Woolstok Worsted, which comes in skeins measuring 123 yards (112 meters) each and is made from 100% wool, weighing 1.76 oz (50 grams) per skein. For my design, I used three skeins in the beautiful shade of 1309 Earth Ivy.

Embrace your creativity and explore the world of unique knitting with this fun and colorful striped cowl that’s perfect for showcasing your personal style. Whether you're a novice or an experienced knitter, this pattern offers a playful challenge and a cozy accessory that you'll love wearing or gifting!
