Franck Shawl
We are thrilled to introduce the beautiful Franck shawl, a design that's not only a delightful knitting project but also holds personal significance for me. Crafted to wear on my wedding day, this special piece is named after the family I joined through marriage. The Franck shawl is a stunning knitted accessory that I will cherish forever, and I hope you find the knitting process as rewarding and enjoyable as I did!
YARN REQUIREMENTS - To create your own Franck shawl, you will need DK weight yarn, approximately:
- Color A (CA): 685 yards (627 meters) - This is the yarn used for the neckband and the prominent brioche color.
- Color B (CB): 335 yards (307 meters)
For the sample, we used Featherfin yarn, which consists of 80% Superwash Merino and 20% Mongolian Cashmere (270 yards or 250 meters per 100 grams) in the stunning colorways ‘Red Amethyst’ & ‘Magnolia’. This luxurious yarn will add an extra touch of elegance to your shawl.
GAUGEBoth blocked swatches were worked flat to determine the appropriate gauge:
- In basic brioche rib with smaller needles, gauge measures 14 stitches and 22 rows in a 4” (10 cm) square.
- In garter stitch with larger needles, gauge measures 17 stitches and 30 rows in a 4” (10 cm) square.
Whether you're a seasoned knitter or a beginner, the Franck shawl will be a gratifying project that you can wear with pride. It's perfect for showcasing your knitting skills, and with its beautiful design, it makes for a thoughtful handmade gift for loved ones.
