The knitting pattern you’re about to explore was originally designed and released to celebrate the triumphant completion of my dear friend Susan Crawford's cancer treatment. This heartfelt tribute honors the incredible women who embarked on this journey alongside her and aims to raise vital funds for a local Cancer Care charity that provided much-needed support during this challenging time.
This beautiful pattern is part of an exclusive yarn kit, a collaborative project involving four of Susan's favorite hand dyers: Skein Queen, Old Maiden Aunt, Knitting Goddess, and Countess Ablaze. Each contributes their artisanal touch to create something truly special. Additionally, talented graphic artist Julie Nelson-Rhodes designed an iconic and original skein band that beautifully encapsulates the spirit of this project.
The design was initially crafted using Susan's limited edition yarn, [Ghyll][1], renowned for its unique texture and color. However, this pattern would also look fabulous in her [Hand Dyed Bluem Sock][2] yarn, which features vibrant hues and a luxurious feel. Alternatively, any sport weight yarn or a lofty 4 ply yarn will work wonderfully with this shawl, allowing for a range of colors and textures to suit every knitter’s taste.
