Garden Fence Socks
Summer in Atlantic Canada brings a vibrant display of beautiful flowers adorning gardens and lining the roads. The stunning colours of the new yarn from Yarn Indulgences in the Reflection colourway remind me of the vivid summer blooms contrasting against the charm of a weathered split rail fence. Imagine foxgloves, hydrangeas, snapdragons, sweet peas, and cosmos gracefully swaying in the summer breeze. As a self-proclaimed lazy gardener, I dream of reaching such gardening heights. However, if I'm being honest, I would much rather be knitting than weeding! So, I’ve decided to knit my pretty flower vibes into delightful socks instead.
This knitting pattern features a fun and textured stitch design that wraps around the leg of the sock, beautifully mimicking the rustic look of a split rail fence. The little twisted stitches are a joy to work, allowing you to create intricate designs without the need for a cable needle. To guide you through the process, I’ve included both written instructions and a helpful video tutorial showcasing my method.
The sock pattern caters to a wide range of knitters, coming in 3 sizes to ensure a perfect fit. It is knit from the top down, incorporating a garter-edged heel flap and a traditional gusset for added comfort and durability. To complete the sock, I’ve designed my own version of a rounded toe, which not only enhances the overall aesthetic but also ensures a snug fit.
Whether you are a seasoned knitter or a beginner looking to step up your skills, this vibrant summer sock pattern will allow you to celebrate the beauty of nature while enjoying the satisfaction of creating something special. Get ready to transport yourself to a blooming summer garden as you indulge in this knitting project!
