Gauley Socks
Inspired by the exhilarating zigzagging rapids of the Gauley River in West Virginia, the Gauley Socks feature a striking zigzag stranded colorwork pattern that adorns both the leg and the toe. With vibrant contrast heels and toes, these socks add a lively pop of color, making them a fun and sporty addition to your sock collection. Perfect for outdoor adventures or cozy nights in, the Gauley Socks will keep your feet stylish and warm.
Finished Size: These socks come in two sizes: 7 1/2 (8 1/2)" foot circumference and 9 (9 1/2)" long from the back of the heel to the tip of the toe. The foot and leg length can be easily adjusted to suit your preferences; however, please note that any modifications may alter the yarn requirements. The socks shown in the image measure 7 1/2".
Yarn: To create your Gauley Socks, you will need Anzula Squishy, a luxurious blend of 80% superwash merino, 10% cashmere, and 10% nylon (with 385 yards [352 m] per 4 oz [114 g] skein). For the main color (MC), choose gravity; for contrast colors, select storm (CC1) and avocado (CC2). One skein of each color is required for this project.
Needles: For this pattern, you will need Size 1 (2.25 mm) double-pointed needles (dpn). Be sure to adjust your needle size if necessary to achieve the correct gauge.
Notions: Gather some essential knitting notions, including a marker (m) and a tapestry needle for finishing. These tools will help you create a professional-looking pair of socks.
Gauge: To ensure the perfect fit, maintain a gauge of 30 stitches and 44 rows per 4" in stockinette stitch. This gauge is crucial for your socks to fit comfortably and beautifully.
These delightful socks are worked from the top down, allowing for easy modifications and adjustments as you knit. Whether you're an experienced knitter or just starting out, the Gauley Socks pattern is an enjoyable project that combines creativity and functionality. Dive into your yarn stash and get ready to craft a pair of socks that are as adventurous as the river that inspired them!
