Genus Araneus (Spider) Hat

$4.23

For years, I’ve been captivated by the intricate Spider cable pattern featured in Barbara Walker’s renowned ‘Charted Knitting Designs: A Third Treasury of Knitting Patterns’ (the classic yellow edition). As Hallowe’en approaches, I believe crafting a cozy hat using this stunning design is the perfect way to celebrate the season in style.

This Spider Hat pattern is thoughtfully sized for both kids and adults, making it a versatile choice for knitters of all ages. It’s particularly suitable for those with experience working in the round and following cable charts. If you love creating unique knitted items, you’ll find this pattern engaging and enjoyable.

One fun feature of this pattern is the optional two-colour ribbing, which adds a whimsical touch and allows you to put those leftover yarn scraps to great use—requiring less than 30 yards of your contrasting colour (CC). However, if you prefer a more classic look, the hat works just as beautifully in a single colour!

(Note: This pattern is an updated version of my popular 2009 Spider Hat, enhanced with better sizing options and an improved decrease method. If you purchased the previous version, please reach out, and I would be happy to send you this updated copy.)

Whether you’re preparing for a festive get-together, a chilly evening out, or simply want to showcase your knitting skills, the Spider Hat is a fantastic project to keep your hands busy. Download today to start knitting your new favorite hat!
