Geraniums Beanie
“Water Them Geraniums” is my favourite short story by renowned Australian author Henry Lawson. This poignant tale beautifully captures the resilience of a woman persevering through a severe drought. Reflecting on the challenges Australia faced – from prolonged droughts to devastating bushfires and the recent trials of COVID-19 – I was inspired to create these unique beanies. The collection includes one fitted beanie and one slouchy beanie, each designed with love and intention.
For this project, I used Kaalund Yarns Puggle, sourced from their family-run fibre mill located on the scenic Sunshine Coast in Queensland. This yarn is not only soft and luxurious but also ethically produced from non-mulesed sheep, ensuring the welfare of the animals. The vibrant colours, Flame Tree and Ocean, were chosen to evoke the essence of Australia’s beautiful landscapes, making these beanies perfect for any occasion.
In addition, I recommend using Juniper Moon Farm’s Santa Cruz Organic Merino Worsted Weight yarn for those who prioritize eco-friendly options. This organic yarn underscores my commitment to sustainability, as Juniper Moon Farm practices ethical and cruelty-free methods in raising their sheep. By choosing these materials, you're not just creating beautiful knitwear; you're also supporting ethical farming practices and sustainability in the knitting community.
Whether you're a seasoned knitter or just starting out, these patterns will inspire creativity and offer warmth during the cooler months. Dive into this knitting project today, and embrace the spirit of resilience and sustainability with every stitch!
