Gordon Gecko Hat
When my son was little, he had an undeniable obsession with a whimsical song by Bruce Springsteen featured on a charity album of beloved children’s songs. This catchy tune was all about "chicken lips, lizard hips, and alligator eyes," which mixed together in a delightful concoction called “Mama’s Soup Surprise.” His love for this song inspired me to create a unique lizard sweater for him. Fast forward to today—I'm now knitting for my nephew’s children, and I received some great advice: you can’t go wrong with themes like Tools, Animals, or Dinosaurs! With this in mind, I decided to graph out a playful lizard design, but I needed the perfect name for it. I wanted something that had a hard “G” sound to give it a tough edge. “Gregory”? Too gentle. “George”? Doesn’t fit the bill with that soft “G.” “Gordon”? Yes, that’s it! It wasn’t until I combined it with the lizard design that I realized Gordon was reminiscent of a certain unscrupulous financier from a famous movie, albeit spelled differently. Since my popular TOOL TIME HAT has been a big hit with adults, I’m excited to introduce Gordon the Lizard, available in sizes for infants, children, and adults. Each size offers a unique fit, making it perfect for family matching or as a thoughtful gift. (Child size pictured above.) This knitting pattern is ideal for both novice and experienced knitters looking to create something fun and memorable for the little ones in their lives. Dive into this creative project and bring Gordon to life for your next knitting adventure!
