Gramma's Hug
Welcome to our cherished knitting pattern, a beautiful shawl born from a journey of grief and love. This shawl was conceived and knitted within just 48 hours, serving as a powerful reminder of knitting's therapeutic potential. In creating this piece, I found solace and clarity, transforming my emotions into something tangible and beautiful.
Years ago, my beloved Gramma experienced a devastating stroke that shattered our family’s sense of security. We had always seen her as indestructible, a remarkable woman who had navigated countless challenges throughout her life. During her transition to a care home, I knitted her a shawl that she treasured deeply. It provided her with comfort and warmth, something she truly needed during that difficult time. After Gramma's passing this summer, a thoughtful gesture returned that treasured shawl to me. I had always intended to gift her with another shawl, a promise I never fulfilled. With renewed purpose and inspiration, I finally created this shawl in her memory.
