Gray Horse Knitting Pattern: A Perfect Project for Advanced Beginner Knitters
Embrace the spirit of the New Year 2014 with our delightful Gray Horse knitting pattern! This charming knitted horse is an ideal project for advanced beginner knitters who are ready to explore the art of toy making using knit stitches. The finished horse stands approximately 17 inches (43cm) tall, making it a wonderful decorative piece or a unique gift for special occasions.
Materials Needed for Your Gray Horse
To create your adorable Gray Horse, gather the following materials:
- 4 double-pointed needles in a size suited for the yarn weight you are using. We recommend using needles that are a size or two smaller than the yarn's suggested size for a firmer fabric. For this project, I used US size 6 (4mm) and US size 8 (5mm).
- Gray Super Bulky yarn for the horse's body. I chose Alize Country yarn, which is composed of 35% Acrylic, 30% Wool, 25% Nylon, and 10% Mohair, with 100g providing approximately 34 meters (3.53 oz = 37 yards).
- Beige yarn for the hooves. I used Nako Sport Wool, which consists of 25% Wool and 75% Acrylic, with 100g yielding about 120 meters.
- Toy stuffing to give your horse its lovely shape.
- Yarn needle for sewing and weaving in ends.
- Stitch holder to keep your stitches secure while you work.
- 2 plastic safety eyes to bring your horse to life.
Throughout this pattern, you'll be working in the round, which helps to avoid the appearance of seams and create a smooth finish for your toy.
