This beautiful shawl was specially designed as a heartfelt 70th birthday present for my Mum, who resides on the picturesque south coast of England, specifically on Hayling Island. Known for its charming landscapes and coastal beauty, this island makes for the perfect backdrop for such a thoughtful gift. To ensure comfort, given her allergies to certain natural fibers, I chose to work with a soft acrylic baby yarn that is gentle against the skin.
The shawl features a traditional half-hap construction, showcasing a cozy garter stitch central panel. This central triangle is elegantly surrounded by a border and finished with a delicate lace edging that adds an element of sophistication. The thoughtfully selected colors and shapes of this shawl evoke the serene beauty of Hayling Island.
