**Please note:** The middle size needle is switched to begin Row 31.

This beautifully crafted shawl was created and knitted during a wonderful week in August that my family spent in Hayward, Wisconsin, a charming tourist town nestled deep in the picturesque Northwoods. Inspired by the serene natural beauty of the area, this shawl features a long crescent shape adorned with a variety of knitting techniques including stockinette stitch, garter stitch, and a couple of simple yet elegant lace patterns. These designs mimic the gentle ripples and tiny waves found in the crystal-clear blue lake adjacent to our cozy log cabin, making this project a true joy to knit.

The design is versatile; if you wish to create a smaller shawl, you can easily reduce its size by omitting one or two of the lace repeats at the bottom edge. This flexibility allows knitters of all levels to customize the piece to their liking, ensuring it fits perfectly into their wardrobe.

For the original sample, I selected the **Infinite Twist Helix Clear Water** colorway, which beautifully captures the stunning shades of blue found in both the skies and the lakes of Hayward—ranging from bright to deep tones, mirroring the vibrant Helix yarn resting in front of me. The colors are simply mesmerizing, making them an ideal choice for this project.
