Hedgerow Jam Hat - knitting pattern

Hedgerow Jam Hat

$5.00

This beautiful hat is inspired by the hedgerow bounty we would bring home from our weekend excursions, a delightful exploration of nature's treasures. My Mom would transform these foraged berries into delicious jam, with vibrant shades of red, reminiscent of the raspberries peeking through the green foliage, or deep, jewel-toned hues when blackberries graced the mix. This nostalgic recipe for warmth and comfort is perfect for any knitting enthusiast.

Introducing the [Hedgerow Jam Hat][1], designed to perfectly complement the matching [Hedgerow Jam Cowl][2]. While it shares similar design elements, this hat features unique techniques that elevate your knitting experience. Crafted using stranded colorwork techniques, this hat is not only eye-catching but also produces a nice, dense fabric that ensures your head stays toasty warm, ideal for chilly outings.

Materials Required:

Yarn: Malabrigo Rios (100% Merino, 210 yards/192 meters, 3.5 oz/100 grams)
You'll need 1 skein each of color A (Lettuce) and color B (Jupiter).
If you've previously made the matching [Hedgerow Jam Cowl][2], you can easily use the leftover yarn from that project to create this hat.
Alternatively, you can use any worsted weight yarn, requiring approximately 80-90 yards of each of the 2 colors.

Additional samples were beautifully knit in KnitPicks Wool of the Andes Worsted Yarn (100% Peruvian Highland Wool, Worsted Weight, 110 yards/50 grams) using 1 skein of color A (Avocado) for a charmingly different look. This versatile pattern is suitable for knitters of various skill levels, making it a perfect addition to your collection of winter accessories. Join us in celebrating the wonders of nature and keep your head cozy with this stunning Hedgerow Jam Hat!
