Herringbone Mittens
One of our enthusiastic test knitters for the Herringbone Toque requested a matching mitten, which led me to an intriguing challenge. At first, I thought creating a thumb for the mitten was impossible. To prove my point, I sketched various ideas in my notebook. However, one fateful evening, when I was supposed to be cooking dinner, inspiration struck. I brainstormed a potential solution that might just work, jotted it down on an envelope next to my computer, and proceeded to prepare dinner, all while pondering if my concept would hold up. Once the dishes were clean, I printed the knitting chart, turned on an old episode of Nova, and began to knit fervently. To my delight, it worked beautifully! Oh, and black holes are fascinating, too.
