Hessian
Introducing our intricately designed asymmetrical triangle Hessian shawl, a stunning accessory perfect for knitters of all skill levels. This beautifully textured shawl derives its name from a captivating woven slipped stitch repeating pattern that constitutes the main sections of the design. The appealing visuals and tactile qualities of this shawl make it one of my all-time favorite stitches to work with.
A complementary contrasting moss stitch/slipped stitch pattern works wonders when paired with a contrasting yarn, adding depth and dimension to this eye-catching piece. Whether you’re dressing up a simple outfit or adding flair to your winter wardrobe, this shawl is an exquisite choice that will surely turn heads.
Suggested yarn: For the Main Colour (MC), you'll need approximately 520m of fingering weight yarn, while the Contrast Colour (CC) requires around 250m. The sample showcased here is made with MC using 2 skeins of Eden Cottage Yarns Bowland 4 ply in the enchanting Misty Woods (100g/400m each), paired with 1 skein of A Knit Away 4ply sock in the vibrant Rose Garden (100g/425m each) for CC.
Needles: The ideal needle size for this project is 3.25mm (US 3), which helps you achieve the perfect finish.
Gauge: Aim for a gauge of 30 sts x 40 rows per 10cm in the ‘Hessian’ slipped stitch pattern after blocking to ensure your shawl turns out just right.
Finished measurements: The delightful wingspan measures an impressive 160cm, with a centre depth of 73cm, making it a substantial and cozy wrap to drape around your shoulders.
