Introducing the exquisite Holyrood Shawl, a versatile knitting pattern that begins at the center and gracefully works its way outward to create a stunning border. This beautiful shawl features a variety of engaging stitch patterns, transitioning smoothly from classic garter stitch, through vibrant stripes, and into delicate lace designs. Our sample shawls are crafted in two contrasting colors, but they can be even more captivating when knitted with a diverse palette—feel free to use your leftover yarn and let your creativity shine! The Holyrood Shawl pattern is thoughtfully crafted for knitters of all levels, as it includes both fully charted and written instructions for ease of use.

Yarn Requirements: For Version 1, we recommend using Eden Cottage Yarns Harewood 4ply, which is made from 100% British superwash Bluefaced Leicester, offering 385m/420y per 110g. You'll need 1 skein in your Main Color (MC) and 1 skein in Contrasting Color (CC). Our sample showcases the colors Twig (MC) and Driftwood (CC). For Version 2, try Eden Cottage Yarns Bedale 4ply, a luxurious blend of 50% Baby Yak and 50% Silk, measuring 399m/436y per 100g. Similar to Version 1, you’ll need 1 skein each of MC and CC, with our sample highlighting Steel (MC) and Alpine (CC).

Gauge: Achieve a gauge of 22 stitches and 34 rows = 10 cm/4” in stockinette stitch, measured flat after a wet blocking to ensure accuracy. While the gauge is not crucial for this project, keep in mind that any differences in gauge could impact the overall size of your shawl and the amount of yarn required to complete it. Embrace the artistic journey of creating your Holyrood Shawl and enjoy the process of experimenting with colors and stitch patterns!
