Hugs and Kisses
We recently relocated to the interior of our province, and unlike our previous home on the beautiful west coast of Canada, we're experiencing much harsher weather conditions here. The winters can be quite chilly, with snow blanketing the landscape, while summers bring delightful heat. We are so excited to introduce Maya to all the wonders that snowy days bring. Between building snowmen and having snowball fights, she'll definitely need her warm hats and scarves this winter! This inspiration led to the creation of the “Hugs and Kisses” winter set, which includes a cozy scarf, a stylish hat, and a warm cowl.
My goal for this set was to ensure it is vibrant and cheerful, making it easy to spot against a backdrop of pristine white snow. As the winters can get quite snowy here, having brightly colored accessories is essential!
Having always loved the art of intarsia knitting, this project was a perfect opportunity to showcase my favorite technique. The Fair Isle chart I utilized throughout this set is simple enough for knitting novices to follow while still offering enough depth to keep seasoned knitters engaged and challenged. Each piece is thoughtfully knitted in the round, resulting in a completely seamless finish, so you can enjoy your handcrafted items without any visible seams.
GAUGE: Achieve a gauge of 22 stitches and 29 rows = 10 cm/4 inches in Stockinette stitch and Fair Isle pattern using 4 mm/US #6 needles or the size necessary to meet gauge requirements.
This pattern is suitable for DK weight yarns, making it accessible for various yarn selections while ensuring a comfortable and warm final product.
