Are you captivated by variegated yarns? These vibrant, eye-catching yarns are not only delightful to look at but also incredibly easy to care for, making them perfect for kids' projects. However, finding the right pattern to truly showcase their beauty can often be a challenge. That's where this unique blanket pattern comes in! After assembling it, I decided to name this mesmerizing design “Hyperspace Blanket,” inspired by the stunning visual effect that the variegated yarn creates, reminiscent of the hyperspace scenes from various popular sci-fi movies.
This versatile blanket pattern is designed with a modular approach, making it an excellent alternative to traditional sock patterns for your summer knitting projects. The modular construction allows for creativity and experimentation, and it works beautifully with any variegated or self-striping yarn you have on hand. Additionally, this design serves as a fantastic stashbuster, making it easy to use up leftover yarn. Trying it out in fingering weight yarn can also yield stunning results, creating a lightweight and cozy blanket that’s perfect for warmer months.
Yarn Requirements:
- 800-1500 yards of main color (MC) (shown in Red Heart Super Saver Multi “Primary”), with approximately 90% allocated for the vibrant triangle motifs and 10% for the beautiful border edging.
- 290-370 yards of contrast color (CC) (shown in Red Heart Super Saver Solid “Dark Orchid”), with about 30% used for seaming and 70% dedicated to the elegant border.
