For my sample knit, the yarns exhibited only minimal growth when blocked. If your chosen yarns have a more flexible texture, you might end up with a beautifully larger shawl (and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that!).

Before blocking, my sample measured 43 inches along the top edge and was 19 inches deep (from the top to the bottom of the spine). After the blocking process, the shawl expanded to an impressive 53 inches along the top edge and a depth of 22 inches (from the top to the bottom of the spine).
