Iola Blanket

$6.50

The Iola Blanket is a beautifully designed knit project that features a unique modular construction. With its use of perpendicular and intersecting stripes, this stunning blanket creates a striking and visually appealing effect that will enhance any living space.

The innovative design begins with a provisional cast-on at the center panel, allowing knitters to create an intricate pattern. One half of the striped panel is knitted diagonally from the center, utilizing fashioned decreases on both edges for a smooth finish. Once this half is completed, the provisional cast-on is unraveled, enabling the second half of the panel to be worked seamlessly.

In addition to the center panel, the Iola Blanket incorporates four separate striped triangles, each knitted individually. The shaped edges of these triangles are then skillfully joined to the center panel. The fashioned decreases not only lend to the blanket's aesthetic but also provide an easy sewing edge, making it perfect for the mattress stitch technique and ensuring a flawless finish.

To complete the Iola Blanket, a simple yet elegant garter stitch border is added. This border is picked up and worked outward along each side, while mitred corners are crafted for a tidy and polished look. This finishing touch not only enhances the blanket's structure but also adds to its overall charm.

Yarn Requirements

For this project, we recommend using 8 ply/DK weight wool. This combination of colors will help you achieve the perfect balance of contrast and harmony in your finished blanket.
