In memory of my beloved sister, Janina, who left this earthly realm on August 31, 2009. She was truly our sunshine and joy; her life, while severely affected by a birth defect, radiated love and positivity that illuminated the lives of everyone around her. This shawl is designed in her honor, serving as a heartfelt reminder that even through life's most challenging difficulties, there remains sunshine and beauty to be found. It symbolizes the joy that can be discovered in the simplest and smallest of things.
This exquisite shawl pattern features two vibrant yarns: Color A is "JAM berry" from The Violet Valentine’s “Favorite Sock” collection, which is composed of 75% superwash merino, 15% cashmere, and 10% silk, offering a luxurious feel and a stunning depth of color. This skein comes with a generous 430 yards (393 meters) and weighs 115 grams. Color B is "Good Morning Beautiful" from The Violet Valentine’s “Dylan DK” line, made entirely of 100% superwash merino, providing a soft and cozy touch with 250 yards (229 meters) and also weighing 115 grams. Please note that this shawl pattern can be worked in either all fingering weight or all DK weight yarn, depending on your preference.
For a fingering weight shawl, simply use two complementary hanks of at least 400 yards (366 meters) each. If you choose to create a DK weight shawl, utilize 400 yards (366 meters) for Color A and 250 yards (229 meters) for Color B.
