Jovian Socks
Introducing our beautifully crafted sock pattern, inspired by the stunning rings found around the Gas Giants, also known as the Jovian Planets. This eye-catching design features elegantly braided rings created using a lateral braid technique in the contrasting color (CC). Whether you prefer a cozy shortie sock or a classic full-length sock, this versatile knitting pattern has you covered. A helpful video tutorial link is included to guide you through the lateral braid process, ensuring you achieve perfect results with ease.
This top-down sock pattern is designed with a traditional heel flap, offering a timeless structure that enhances both comfort and durability. You will be using the magic loop technique, which allows you to navigate through the knitting process seamlessly. In this pattern, needle 1 is designated for the front of the foot, including the instep and leg, while needle 2 is reserved for the back of the foot, leg, and heel. With sizes ranging from child to large adult, these socks are an excellent option for the whole family, making them a fantastic addition to your knitting repertoire.
For our shortie sock sample, we used size 4 with Hue Loco Phyllis Sock in the colorway ‘Folklore’ (37g for Main Color - MC) paired with Yarn Cafe Creations Unknown Mini (10g for Contrasting Color - CC). Additionally, the mid-calf length sock sample was knit in size 3 using Spun Right Round 80/20 Sock in ‘Heelbent’ (56g for MC) and an unknown pink mini (13g for CC). Revel in the joy of knitting with the suggested yarn parameters: MC requires 200-460 yards (183-421 meters) of fingering weight yarn, while CC needs 45-92 yards (41-84 meters) of fingering weight yarn. Perfect for advanced knitters and beginners alike, this pattern not only adds style to your wardrobe but also provides a rewarding knitting experience.
