Kakao beanie
This beautifully crafted design has been commissioned by a friend who is passionate about creating the most delicious chocolate and refuses to wear unattractive chef’s caps. Introducing the Kakao beanie, which means cocoa in Ukrainian. This very light and airy reversible spring-summer beanie is perfect for those warmer months when you still want a touch of comfort and style. If made from luxurious materials such as mohair, silk, fingering weight wool, or cashmere, it transforms into an ideal light yet warm beanie. The beanie is designed to be worked seamlessly in the round, ensuring a smooth and polished finish without any bothersome seams.
Size: This one-size beanie fits a head circumference of 54-58 cm, making it versatile for various wearers.
Yarn: For this project, we recommend using Vivchari Etno Cotton 1500, which is a fantastic cotton-linen blend. You will need 35 grams, approximately 265 meters, consisting of 70% cotton and 30% linen, held double to achieve a fingering weight. Alternatively, you can choose any similar fingering weight yarn that suits your personal taste and desired look.
Tools: You'll need 3.0 mm (US 2.5) circular needles or double-pointed needles (DPNs), along with 1 stitch marker to help keep track of your rounds.
Gauge: Achieve a gauge of 24 stitches and 36 rows in a 10 cm square with stockinette stitch after blocking to ensure your beanie fits snugly and comfortably.
Whether you're an experienced knitter or just starting, this Kakao beanie pattern is an excellent addition to your collection. It combines the beauty of Ukrainian culture with practical design, making it both fashionable and functional—perfect for showing off your knitting skills.
