“E kore e wheko, he mea iri ki runga ki te wheenako, e kore e wheko.”  The yearning for something cannot be easily extinguished.  - Maori Proverb

My deep yearning to reconnect with my cultural heritage inspired this design, embodying the true essence of Seeker Fibre Muse. This collection features designs that celebrate my ancestry, and this particular piece draws on traditional Maori motifs. The colorwork design is inspired by a classic geometric wave motif commonly found in Maori weaving, symbolizing the connection to the sea and our heritage. The term "Karekare" translates to Te Reo Maori for wave, but it also conveys the idea of "choppy or rough waters," reflecting the complexities of life and the beauty in our journeys.

CONSTRUCTION  This yoke pullover is expertly crafted from the bottom up and worked in the round. The design incorporates short row shaping towards the end around the back of the neck to provide a more comfortable and tailored fit around the shoulders. For optimal sizing, it is recommended to choose pattern measurements that are 2 - 4 inches (5 cm - 10 cm) larger than your actual size, ensuring a perfect fit that's both stylish and comfortable.

This pattern has been meticulously tech edited to guarantee clarity, correctness, and consistency throughout the instructions, making it ideal for both novice and experienced knitters alike.

Whether you are looking to delve into cultural knitting or simply want to create a stunning, cozy pullover, this Karekare design is the perfect addition to your knitting repertoire.
