Kellygnow Shawl

$6.30

Introducing our stunning Faroese-shaped shawl knitting pattern, designed for knitters who appreciate intricate designs and beautiful motifs. This shawl is cleverly cast on at the back neck and is skillfully shaped using yarn-over increases at both the center back and the edges, creating a flattering silhouette. The overall design features enchanting woodland and leaf motifs that evoke the serene beauty of nature. To finish, the shawl boasts a knit-on undulating lace edging, reminiscent of the gentle ripples of a forest stream, adding a touch of elegance to this exquisite piece.

For this project, I selected two beautiful colors of The Woolen Rabbit Oasis fingering-weight yarn. I used approximately 375 yards for the main body of the shawl and an additional 385 yards for the intricate border. However, if you prefer a more classic look, you can knit the shawl in a single color, which will require around 775 yards of fingering-weight yarn. While I highly recommend using this luxurious yarn base for its superb quality, feel free to substitute with a similar weight yarn that offers a lovely drape and minimal bloom, ensuring your shawl maintains its stunning appearance.

This design is inspired by the enchanting name of the artist colony featured in Charles de Lint’s beloved book, "Forests of the Heart." I crafted this shawl with the imagery of a tranquil walk through the woods in mind, where one can enjoy winding pathways beneath a canopy of majestic old-growth trees, with the soothing sound of last season’s leaves crunching softly underfoot.

Whether you are an experienced knitter or looking to advance your skills, this Faroese shawl pattern offers a creative and rewarding knitting experience. Dive into the world of nature-inspired designs and create your own beautiful shawl that will surely become a cherished addition to your wardrobe!
