Kensington Gardens Shawlette - knitting pattern

Kensington Gardens Shawlette

$5.99

During our recent trip to England, my 16-year-old daughter and I joyfully wandered the enchanting, criss-crossing paths of Kensington Gardens. Every winding path seemed to lead us to the majestic Kensington Palace, which made our adventure even more delightful.

Inspired by this beautiful experience, I designed a stunning shawlette that is perfect for wearing to the Palace! This elegant knit features a repeating lace pattern that beautifully mirrors the intricate pathways found in London’s Kensington Gardens. Measuring 57x25 inches, this shawlette requires approximately 450 yards of fingering weight wool. In the example shown here, I used the exquisite hand-dyed yarn “Little Traveller” from Verdant Gryphon, which adds a unique touch to this project.

KNITTING NOTES:
• The shawlette is crafted from the top down, commencing with a garter tab for an appealing finish.
• At the heart of the design is a simple yet eye-catching 4-stitch cable, adorned with yarn overs (yo's) on either side for added flair.
• Each triangle follows the same construction, featuring the central cable panel that unifies the entire design.
• A lovely 3-stitch garter stitch edge frames the shawlette, with a slipped stitch to start each row, ensuring a neat and polished look.
• As you knit, the shawl gradually increases from just 10 stitches to over 250 stitches, making the process both rewarding and manageable. The easy-to-memorize lace pattern enables you to knit quickly and confidently.

All directions for this beautiful shawlette are provided in both charted and row-by-row formats, ensuring that knitters of all skill levels can follow along with ease. Create a fashionable accessory that not only showcases your knitting skills but also evokes the charm of Kensington Gardens!
