Kitten Lady Mitts
If you're a passionate knitter and a fan of Instagram, you’ve likely come across the delightful antics of Hannah Shaw, affectionately known as Kitten Lady. With an impressive following, Hannah shares irresistible photos of her adorable feline friends, bringing joy to cat lovers everywhere. Among her stylish outfits, she once sported a stunning beaded cuff bracelet that caught my attention—and inspired my latest knitting project. After some thoughtful consideration, I realized that the gorgeous design could easily translate into a knitted colorwork pattern.
And so, I am thrilled to introduce the Kitten Lady Mitts. These charming mitts not only capture the whimsy of kitten love but also make a fashionable accessory for anyone looking to showcase their knitting skills.
Yarn Requirements: To create your own Kitten Lady Mitts, you will need 175–200 yards (160–183 meters) of total fingering weight yarn in two contrasting colors. Based on feedback from our test knitters, the yarn usage varied slightly across sizes; the main color (MC) typically ranged from 147–165 yards (134.4–150.9 meters), while the contrasting color (CC) used about 28–37 yards (25.6–33.8 meters). Feel free to play with colors that resonate with your personality or your adorable fur babies!
Gauge: To ensure your mitts fit perfectly, aim for a gauge of 7.5 stitches and 11.5 rows per 1 inch (2.5 cm) using US 1 needles in plain stockinette stitch after blocking. Achieving the correct gauge is essential for both size and design fidelity, so be sure to check your gauge before you start knitting.
These Kitten Lady Mitts are the perfect way to express your love for both knitting and our feline friends in a stylish manner. Plus, they make a thoughtful gift for the cat lovers in your life! So grab your favorite yarn and get ready to create a knit masterpiece that will keep your hands warm and hearts full.
